LaDell Elliott
Sifu LaDell Elliott began his martial arts career in 1979 training under Dwayne Nickel in GoJu Ryu Karate. It was the beginning of a lifetime journey in the martial arts.
After receiving his black belt in karate, he began training with the late Richard Cagle in Western Boxing.
While training in boxing, he met a martial artist named Khpra Senwosret who was a practitioner of Chinese martial arts. For the next three years, Elliott trained with Khpra as his personal private student. Elliott is the only student to ever receive a Black Sash from Sifu Khpra.
In addition to training with Sifu Khpra, one of the most important moments in Elliott’s journey occurred when he started training with the late Terry Gibson. Gibson introduced him into the Jeet Kune Do and Kali family along with other arts like Silat and Muay Thai Kickboxing. Along with being a great martial artist, Terry was also a gateway for LaDell to meet and train with other martial artists such as the late Larry Hartsell and the legendary Guro Dan Inosanto.
Guro Dan Inosanto is one of the most influential martial arts of this century. Guro Inosanto has been at the forefront of learning new martial arts systems and teaching these arts to his students. Here at Elite Combat Systems, Elliott is continuing the legacy of Bruce Lee’s JKD through Guro Inosanto. Elliott is a 2nd generational student and instructor in JKD and Kali under Guro Inosanto.
Elliott was also fortunate to meet and train with the legendary Pradal Serey fighter Master Oumry Ban. Master Ban was considered to be the “Muhamad Ali of Cambodia” and held the title of Bantam Weight National Champion of Cambodia from 1970 to 1975.
“Martial arts is about knowledge, improving oneself, testing your abilities, and practicing patience to become the best person that you can be. My goal as a martial artists is to remain a student first and in instructor second.”
